Tonight members of the Kentucky Press and the Who Is – the Who Was and those who Wanna Be from both parties, gathered, to pay tribute to Al in recognition of his 20 years of keeping Kentuckians informed on their government(s) at work. Proceeds from the event went to the UofK Center for Rural Journalism.
Republican Governor Ernie Flethcher gave a brief “Special Remarks”, before rushing back to meet with the KY Senate on the budget. U.S. Senator (R) Mitch McConnell, Lead the List of Roasters, followed by State Rep. (D) Kathy Stein; Al Smith, host of Comment on Kentucky; David Hawpe, The Courier Journal; Tom Loftus, the Courier Journal; and finishing with former State Rep. (R) Bob Heleringer.
