            Thank you for your inquiry about LawReader.com.  We are always glad to talk about the features offered by LawReader.

LawReader is a Kentucky based corporation that does something no one else has done before.  We have focused on the law of one state, and then offer more content related to the law, and the practice of law in that state. 

 We have a Law Digest with some 900 topics providing tips, tutorials, authorities, and data bases.  We have a library of over 80,000 general practice forms, hundreds of Ky. Circuit and District Court pleadings including complaints, motions, court orders etc.

We have a 50 state case law data base and a Federal court case law data base licensed through FastCase.  New cases throughout the U.S. are posted within 24 to 48 hours after their release.

Every Friday when the Court of Appeals issues their weekly decisions, we publish a synopsis of all those decisions.  Once a month when the Ky. Supreme Court issues their decisions we publish a synopsis for those decisions.  You can scan the list of new case synopsis in just a few minutes each week to stay current in the law, or you can call up the full text of each case.  You will be surprised how often you can impress the Judge or opposing counsel by saying, “Well, the Court of Appeals said last week....”   As a Circuit Judge I really appreciated this feature.

We have a completely annotated version of the Ky. Revised Statutes.  Did you know that the KRS contains 27,700 statutes?  When we annotated this complete work we ended up with a 40,000 page statute data base. We provide a traditional index and a dedicated search engine for the KRS and Rules of Procedure.  There is no other service that allows you to find a Ky. statute or rule so quickly.

The case law data base is found at the top left of the home page, and styled FASTCASE CASE LAW.  The main list of features is found in the left hand column.  Go to Law Digest to find the index for 900 additional topics. We have jury instructions, an Evidence library with Kentucky and federal authorities and much more.

There is a search engine (above FastCase Case Law) that allows you to do a general search of LawReader topics and features.  On the KRS Annotated w/Search feature we have another search engine that only searches the KRS and rules.  This cuts down on “chaff hits” on unrelated subjects.

There are many options on the Home Page to teach you how to use LawReader and how to use search engines to do legal research.  If you need help on a case law search, you can contact FastCase online and they have a live chat feature that will assist you 24 hours a day. We invite our users to e-mail or fax us with copies of interesting pleadings, motions, etc., and we are always looking for personal interest news about you, so please tell us if you won a large verdict, observed some questionable ruling, or won a beauty contest.

We also are available during most business hours to assist you with any questions.  Some of our best articles and features have come from questions raised by users.

The bottom line is that LawReader has the most complete library of Kentucky law available online, and we offer this at a fixed monthly price with no long term contracts and no extra charges. Our subscription fee is $34.95 per month per lawyer.  If your firm only needs one membership, that is fine with us.  If you will be sharing this with another lawyer however, only one person can be online at the same time under the same password.  So you might want to consider multiple memberships.  We offer a 10% discount for one year membership contracts paid in advance.

While I am retired from the judiciary now, while a Circuit Judge I used LawReader from the bench.  I was often confronted with legal issues I was not well versed on, and would use LawReader to find the answer, often before the attorneys finished their arguments. 

With a wireless broadband card, from Verizon or Cingular (we have the best luck from Verizon), you can take your laptop to trials and hearings and access LawReader from the courtroom, or while away from your office.
