Weight Shift in Golf Swing

If you want to achieve longer and straighter drives, you must learn the proper weight shift.  Without a proper weight shift you will only have an arm swing, and this will not allow maximum distance.  With a proper weight shift you put the weight of your torso into the swing, and faster club speed and more power are the result.

On the backswing, you should be shifting your weight to your right foot.

The right foot should be taking the weight on the inside part of the foot and toward the heel.

From there you should be shifting the weight of your body to the left foot.

The weight should actually transfer to the left foot through the ball of your left foot and then toward the heel.

This will provide a slight rolling action that will help with balance and rhythm.

If you work on this balance-type move with practice swings, you will begin to feel how your weight shift can work for your during your golf swing.

It is more important to work on your backswing weight shift and to make sure that your right root is taking the weight perfectly.
